Angie is a Chapter Board Member and Parent Guide. She has 2 hard of hearing sons, ages 8 and 11. Cathrin Emerick

Parent Guide

Hi, my name is Cathrin, Cat for short. I am a single mom, work and study full-time, fluent in German and continually learning to be better in ASL. I love being a parent guide, because I had a wonderful guide that has helped me navigate through the storm of EVERYTHING regarding having a kid with hearing difference. I have two amazing Kids, Calvin, 17, is my mellow, nerdy guy and hearing. Hazel is 8, she is a little spitfire and is an inspiration to me as she is able to advocate for her needs and educates those around her about being Deaf. Hazel was born with EVA (enlarged vestibular aqueducts). Hazel failed her first  two initial Hearing Screenings , but passed her third one. She attends DSD (Delaware school for the Deaf/HH), where she has been since 2016 and absolutely found her niche. Our chosen mode of language includes ASL and Spoken English Language. We enjoy camping, music, art, and just being a silly little family.

Clare Consavage

Parent Guide

Clare has been a member of Hands & Voices for over 10 years. Clare and her family live in N. Wilmington. She is the mother of 2 sons and stepmom of 5 more bonus kids! Her second son was diagnosed with unilateral sensorineural hearing loss as an infant which progressed to bilateral around the age of 3yrs. The family found an abundance of support and guidance on their own journey and that is what inspired Clare to become a Parent Guide!
